Laughter Overview
Innovated by Dr. Madan Kataria, a physician from Mumbai, India, ‘Laughter Yoga’ combines laughter-based activities, rhythmic clapping and yogic breathing into a fun exercise routine. Its aim is to motivate participants to laugh with no reason, without relying on jokes or comedy. The program begins with simulated laughter as a body exercise in a group. As participants interact, the exercises provoke laughter from all members of the group. One of the objectives is to encourage our natural playfulness, combined with eye contact as tools to convert fake laughter into genuine, contagious laughter.
