African Dance Overview
Historically speaking dance is a concept that originated from the African colonisers. For an African, dance is not a separate activity it is part of a story that doesnt exist with out s song a story & music it all goes to gether as an expression. For many of the sub saharan cultures this interplay of dance, music, story & drumming plays a prominent role at any occasion of note. Whether that be a wedding, birth, death, healing ceremony …. drums & music unite the group & help bond the people together. Traditionally many of the cultures hava a caste or family whose role is to tell the stories of the tribe through music & dance.
